2020年8月14日上午,英国正版365官方网站第114期青年学术沙龙暨研究生科研能力提升系列活动,通过钉钉顺利举行。WM Keck Center for Cellular Imaging的Dr. Periasamy为我们带来了此次报告。
Dr. Periasamy是高级显微镜技术的国际公认专家,特别是在活细胞、组织和动物的分子成像领域。他的研究重点是光学方法的设计和开发,包括先进的光学显微镜技术,用于研究外源性和内源性的蛋白质-蛋白质相互作用,活体成像以及监测正常细胞和癌细胞的物理参数。
荧光寿命成像显微镜(FLIM)是一种用于描述整个样品寿命的空间分布的技术,该技术可以应用于活细胞和固定细胞,从而揭示更多的生物学信息。目前,在受激发射损耗(STED)显微成像中,使用FLIM能将空间分辨率提高到30nm。由于STED光束有时间将分子消耗到基态,更长寿命的荧光团在STED显微镜中提供更好的分辨率,分辨率取决于荧光团的寿命。本次报告中,Dr. Periasamy为我们介绍了非侵入式FLIM显微镜技术在生物和生物医学中的应用。

主讲专家简介
Dr. Periasamy is an internationally recognized expert in advanced microscopy techniques, particularly in the area of molecular imaging in living cells, tissue and animals. A key area of his research is focused on the design and development of optical methodology including advanced light microscopy techniques to investigate/monitor exogenous and endogenous protein-protein interactions, intravital imaging and monitoring the physical parameters of normal versus cancer cells/tissues. Dr. Ammasi Periasamy received his M.S. in Physics (Annamalai University,Tamil Nadu) and M.S./Ph.D. in Biomedical engineering (Imaging) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India.Postdoctoral training in Biomedical Imaging (light microscopy) was at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Periasamy worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and he developed fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) for measuring the oscillations in cytosolic and nuclear free calcium in single intact living cells. Dr. Periasamy joined the University of Virginia in 1996 and is currently working as a Professor of Biology and Biomedical Engineering. He is the founder and center director of the internationally known W.M. Keck Center for Cellular Imaging. Dr. Periasamy was elected “Fellow” members of the SPIE Optical Society in 2012.
